Planning a coastal trip often begins with where you will stay and how you will spend your days. But for many families, there is also a quiet question that follows:

When should I hire a beach photographer?
If you are traveling to Navarre Beach, St. George Island, or along the Forgotten Coast, the most supportive timeline is to schedule your photographer 3–6 months in advance, with a minimum of 1–2 months prior to your travel dates. Though, I'll never turn you away at a full year or as soon as you reserve your stay on the calendar.
This allows space not only for availability, but for a more intentional, well-prepared experience.
How Far in Advance Should You Book a Beach Photographer?
For beach destinations like Navarre Beach and St. George Island, demand tends to follow travel seasons like spring break, summer, and early fall.
To ensure availability, I recommend:
3–6 months in advance for peak seasons
1–2 months minimum for more flexible travel plans
Because I accept no more than six full sessions per month, earlier reservations provide access to the most favorable dates, those that allow your family to feel comfortable, prepared, and unhurried.
Why Booking Early Creates a Better Experience
Reserving your session early does more than secure a date.
It allows space for:
Selecting a day that aligns naturally with your travel schedule
Avoiding days where skin may already be sun-worn
Flexibility to reschedule in the event of severe coastal weather
Rather than fitting your session in, we are able to place it thoughtfully within your time at the beach.
Styling Your Beach Session: When to Start
One of the most meaningful parts of your session begins well before you arrive.
Approximately 30 days prior, we begin the styling process with a dedicated planning call.
This is where we:
Clarify the vision for your session
Coordinate tones, textures, and movement
Walk through each outfit, from head to toe
You are not left to carry this on your own.
I can:
Provide personalized shopping guidance
Work within your existing wardrobe
Offer select pieces from my client wardrobe to complete your look
The goal is not to over-style, but to create something cohesive and natural, something that feels aligned with both your family and the coastal environment.
A Limited Calendar, By Design
In order to serve each family with care and intention, I limit my availability to six full sessions per month.
This allows each session to be:
Unrushed
Thoughtfully prepared
Personally guided from beginning to end
Because of this, availability during peak travel seasons fills quickly, making early reservation especially important for those who feel drawn to working together.
A Gentle Timeline to Follow
If you are planning a beach trip and hoping to include portraits, this rhythm tends to serve families well:
3–6 months prior: Schedule your session
30 days prior: Begin styling and planning
Session week: Arrive prepared, rested, and ready to enjoy the experience
Simple. Steady. Well-prepared.
